Dual notions of reality can co-exist, merge and transform to create an emotional edge that naturally exists when opposites come together; instinct - logic; male-female; light- dark; past-present; chaos-order.
I begin the painting with brush strokes in a fairly automatic way, thinking, not thinking until what happens between them begins to direct meanings for me; then I push it towards that meaning until it breathes on its own. I don’t look for answers: I don’t believe there are any. Questions motivate me: they provide the fuel to raise more questions.
